We Are Losers - Moany

We're very excited here at Dance to the Radio to be working with We Are Losers from Newbridge, County Kildare in Ireland. There's a double A-side single on its way in July with the stupidly infectious tracks Sunset Song / Cheerleader. Huge fuzzy guitar pop tunes with great harmonies. Like Raey said, bit like the Ramones meets the Beach Boys, close enough we suppose (but not really).
Here's another tune of theirs that you can have for nowt from http://dancetotheradio.bandcamp.com/, or just watch it (listen to it) loads and loads of times on Youtube, see here

Three Blind Wolves

So last night i was on my usual travels and caught Three Blind Wolves at Oporto. The band had traveled down from Glasgow, almost not making the gig when their van blew up just out of their hometown. Really impressed me, if you're into stuff like Neutral Milk Hotel, Fleet Foxes, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Frightened Rabbit (well a mix of a lot of stuff) they might well be your thing.

Anyway the band are in Leeds at Live at Leeds on May 1st to check out again and their are a some limited copies of their new album on the DTTR shop for a fiver, bargain!

Drink Up Buttercup Sign to Dance To The Radio for UK

Drink Up Buttercup // Born and Thrown on a Hook EPK from Drink Up Buttercup on Vimeo.

Drink Up Buttercup may hail from Philadelphia but the geography of their debut album “Born & Thrown On A Hook” is less easily located on a physical map. It’s an occasionally surreal mythology filled with tales of hopelessly flawed characters, star-crossed lovers, drunks, fairy tales & bad trips. It exists in a world touched upon previously by Tom Waits, Hans Christian Anderson and Lloyd Kaufman while musically it follows a direct lineage of classic song writing: Bowie, The Beatles & The Beach Boys late 60s lysergia, early Roxy Music, Sabbath’s bass heavy pulse & the crescendos of Arcade Fire.

Recorded meticulously throughout 2009 by Bill Moriarty (Dr Dog / Man Man) and mixed by Rusty Santos (Animal Collective / Owen Pallett) it perfectly balances consistently catchy melodies with the raw energy of their trashcan pounding live show.

Rose Elinor Dougall

So i've been so slack at using this thing, sorry. Anyway for those out the loop on Dance To The Radio we are now working with a fantastic artist called 'Rose Elinor Dougall.' Rose used to be in The Pipettes some time ago but left to start work on solo material. Her debut album Without Why is coming out later in the year but here are a few videos from her at SXSW festival in Austin this year.

Rose's new single 'Find Me Out' is released on May 3rd and you can pre-order it here - http://dancetotheradio.bigcartel.com/

Dance To The Radio Presents... BEAR IN HEAVEN

After the AMAZING Esben and The Witch gig, Dance To The Radio is teaming up with The Brudenell Social Club to start the celebrations for Dance To The Radio's 5th birthday and put on one of our favourite bands from Brooklyn, New York.

BEAR IN HEAVEN

http://www.myspace.com/bearinheaven

Out of the bed of bands that gave you Grizzly Bear and Yeasayer, Bear In Heaven are a Brooklyn-based rock band formed by Jon Philpot. The sound of the band incorporates influences from psychedelic music, electronic music and krautrock. The band are set to release their current album 'Beast Rest Forth Mouth' in the UK this spring. The album came out to rapturous aplause in the US, through Hometapes, last autumn with Pitchfork giving the album the 'best new music award'.

"Bear in Heaven's greatest trick is creating music that evokes the sort of physicality and scope that could soundtrack a Hollywood film, but also works equally well at stirring up intimate bodily passion"

Rough Trade have also just recently given Bear In Heaven their 'Album Of The Week'

Bear In Heaven will tour the US this Spring alongside Cymbals Eat Guitars, including a stop at SXSW, before heading to Europe for the very first time. We absolutely love this band, have a listen to the album below at either Last.FM or Spotifty and get a free download of Wholehearted Mess.

JUFFAGE
http://www.myspace.com/juffage

Juffage is Jeff T. Smith, a solo sound artist and multi-instrumentalist from Chicago. He is often seen in bars, art galleries, or basements with a band’s worth of instruments.

A recording enthusiast at heart, he has spent time in some of Chicago’s finest studios including Engine (Brian Deck) and Electrical Audio (Steve Albini). Live shows see him coming up with inventive new ways of bringing his multi-layered recordings to the stage. Through the use of cassettes, drums, guitars, and assorted other loop-pedals and gadgets, Juffage creates complex, yet surprising catchy pop songs.

Juffage performances have been compared to a synthesis of Lightning Bolt’s rhythmic ferocity, Radiohead’s lush pop sensibility, King Tubby’s manipulative production, and Andrew Bird’s ability to make a good loop. The result is loud, frantic, and often beautiful.

In 2008, Juffage somehow fit all his music gear into a station wagon and played over 100 shows across the US, before setting off for the UK and Europe. In late July 2009 yet another self-booked U.S. tour of the east-coast and midwest. In September 2009, he moved to Leeds, England.
