Dance To The Radio Presents... BEAR IN HEAVEN
BEAR IN HEAVEN
http://www.myspace.com/bearinheaven
Out of the bed of bands that gave you Grizzly Bear and Yeasayer, Bear In Heaven are a Brooklyn-based rock band formed by Jon Philpot. The sound of the band incorporates influences from psychedelic music, electronic music and krautrock. The band are set to release their current album 'Beast Rest Forth Mouth' in the UK this spring. The album came out to rapturous aplause in the US, through Hometapes, last autumn with Pitchfork giving the album the 'best new music award'.
"Bear in Heaven's greatest trick is creating music that evokes the sort of physicality and scope that could soundtrack a Hollywood film, but also works equally well at stirring up intimate bodily passion"
Rough Trade have also just recently given Bear In Heaven their 'Album Of The Week'
Bear In Heaven will tour the US this Spring alongside Cymbals Eat Guitars, including a stop at SXSW, before heading to Europe for the very first time. We absolutely love this band, have a listen to the album below at either Last.FM or Spotifty and get a free download of Wholehearted Mess.

JUFFAGE
http://www.myspace.com/juffage
Juffage is Jeff T. Smith, a solo sound artist and multi-instrumentalist from Chicago. He is often seen in bars, art galleries, or basements with a band’s worth of instruments.
A recording enthusiast at heart, he has spent time in some of Chicago’s finest studios including Engine (Brian Deck) and Electrical Audio (Steve Albini). Live shows see him coming up with inventive new ways of bringing his multi-layered recordings to the stage. Through the use of cassettes, drums, guitars, and assorted other loop-pedals and gadgets, Juffage creates complex, yet surprising catchy pop songs.
Juffage performances have been compared to a synthesis of Lightning Bolt’s rhythmic ferocity, Radiohead’s lush pop sensibility, King Tubby’s manipulative production, and Andrew Bird’s ability to make a good loop. The result is loud, frantic, and often beautiful.
In 2008, Juffage somehow fit all his music gear into a station wagon and played over 100 shows across the US, before setting off for the UK and Europe. In late July 2009 yet another self-booked U.S. tour of the east-coast and midwest. In September 2009, he moved to Leeds, England.

Vinyl Cut Of The Day - Scritti Politti
To celebrate the 54th birthday of Green Gartside today's vinyl cut of the day comes from Scritti Politti. The Word Girl was the opening track from the band's hugely successful 1985 album 'Cupid & Psyche 85.' On a more personal note the single charted on the day I was born.Download MP3 - The Word Girl (from The Word Girl Single)

Das Racist
Right its Friday its sunny and i've been listening to this band all day (and all last month). Das Racist 2 guys from Brooklyn, New York. I love them. A mix up minimalist beats, old school hip hop and piss funny lyrics.Anyway Perez Hilton likes them (check this out), this is a little taster of the band. Watch out you'll be hearing a lot more from Himanshu and Victor very VERY soon. Go to the myspace and check out the original version of Combination Pizza Hut & Taco Bell and Rainbow In The Dark.

Out Of The Woods And Trees / Sky Larkin / Mother Vulpine
Everytime we get a new compilation ready i always like to have a listen over the previous ones that we've put out (by the way DTTR 4x12" Volume 2 is done and will be announced very soon). I spent last night listening to the last CD comp we put out 'Out Of The Woods And Trees' i've always held this one pretty close to the heart. Call me a massive geek but i absolutely loved being involved in putting that one together and spending bloody ages sequencing it so it sounded seamless even though all 20 tracks came in at over the maximum length for a cd so myself and Andy, the chap who mastered the comp, had to make some interesting changes. Namely turning the Vessels and Held By Hands tunes into a continuous flow of music. Anyway this is getting off the point. When i go down the list of names on the comp it does make me feel rather proud. Bobby Cook is currently in the middle of recording his debut album with his new (same) band Goldhawks, Prego are starting to make a real name for themselves, Mother Vulpine unfortunately split but into 2 rather well known and awesome bands 'Pulled Apart By Horses' and 'Dinosaur Pile-Up', Sky Larkin have gone onto wonderful things and it's always a joy to catch up for a rare shandy with them, The Chapman Family have gone onto play the NME Radar tour and Vessels have continued to show why they're one of Leeds' best bands.
So we're gonna give away a couple of tracks from the compilation for you guys to have a listen to. Also iTunes are now selling the full compilation for only £2.49 (yes thats cheap) and if you're a pacient soul then you can buy the CD direct from us for £2 (yes that's even cheaper)
Purchase From iTunes for £2.49
Purchase From the lovely folks at Dance To The Radio £2 (plus the postman fee)
